Book Industry is a website dedicated to Romanian book industry. Through interviews with book professionals we will find out how a book travels from manuscript to readers’ shelves or even further, on the desk of a foreign editor. Talking with writers, translators, editors, but also with those whose names barely appear on a page or who could be hardly seen from behind the pile of books they prepare for print, promote or display on a bookstore window we will discover how much work a book actually needs. But also how much passion and professionalism.
I am Oana Purice or Oana Vasile (as in my ID card), literary agent. In my spare time I edit and proof-read books mainly published by Asociația pentru Educație și Dezvoltare UrbanăI have also published a book of my own, my PhD thesis. I worked at Univers Publishing House and at National Museum of the Romanian Literature. I have dealt with many stages of the process of book publishing, and for some years now, as a literary agent, a job a few have in Romania, I am standing at the crossroad of Romanian book industry and the international market. That is why I wanted to find out more on how the former works and also to offer to those interested in this field, Romanian or foreign readers, information delivered by those who keep moving the Romanian book market.
